May Camp-O-Ree

Well May Camp-O-Ree came and went. We sure missed Ashley, Averie, Megan, and Rylee. Like each of the Daisy petals to the GS Law, our girls all bring something unique and special to our troop.  When we aren't all there, it is missed a great deal!

So many people told us how cute our shirts were and we have decided to make this year;s shirt into backpacks and work on a new design for our 2012-13 year. So get those ideas working in full speed because we need to do color and a design. If you have any ideas please share.

Our days started out bright and early at 8:30 for checkin and we are so happy that Michelle brought us her tent covering. As we do these more, we might want to invest in a troop one (Julie said we should do it with Fall Sales so there is a starting goal).

We were treated to a wonderful Flag Ceremony led by hosting Troop 323 and to see the sea of Daisies and Brownies all in matching troop shirts was so cute. We moved on to working on our Camp journals where each of our six girls documenting the happenings of camp. Some girls drew and wrote about the backed up parking lot and all likely have pictures of the rollie pollies they found. We had a corral of them on our table.

Our first station of the day was working on knots. Even though she marked her evaluation card with all frowns, Miss Katie was awesome at this. Julie and Michelle got right into knot making while Teresa and I watched from the sidelines but took some awesome pictures.

The one thing the girls didn't love was the games/relay races. They were stuck in a very sunny spot and dropped like flies after about twenty minutes. After a rest and snack break we were off on a scavenger hunt through the beautiful Wind-A-Mere grounds which after plenty of spring rain looked way different from our fall camp.

On our way back Julie sweet talked the Cupcake station into letting us go now as lunch started and we soon learned that frosting ends up every where on 6 year old girls. We also were able to get Troop 323 leader Deborah to let us do the tye dye station early as well after she saw how tired our girls were.

So we ate lunch, packed up and than headed over to the Teepees which the girls once again commented that they can't wait to sleep in there. We were treated to each of us making unique and one of a kind the dye pillow cases. I am going to wash and dry them for our meeting when the big reveal will happen.

Overall camp was fun and we had a great time though it was hot and all the girls are tired from intense weeks of school. Again, I thank Michelle and Teresa for being awesome Moms and of course Julie the super co-leader!

Finally I created a Facebook page for our troop to post stuff on as needed. You should have an invite next time you log in. Also hope we will all recover from today as a whole and see you all Monday!!!

Camporee 2011 Here and Gone Already

Well we waited for Camporee for weeks and yesterday it was here. We arrived to misting rain which lasted for like 10 minutes but once that was over, the day was beautiful. It was amazing to see 8 girls have so much energy. I think they ran from the moment we arrived to the moment we got back in our cars. The only time they sat for a moment was for lunch to refuel and a few crafts/ swaps.

Talking about Swaps, the girls made two and also got some from a 2nd year Daisy troop who we did the GS promise and sang some great songs with. The girls did the Turkey song for them which they are fast becoming known for as well as all of them doing the Daisy Smile Song together. They were so cute. Plus Julie got her a campfire swap which I am guessing she might still be wearing.

We explored every inch possible of Camp Windamere, and must have crossed the thin steel bridge like a half a dozen times. It was hard for me to get over because of the height BUT with the help from Julie and Stacia as my focus trick, I got over it.

All the girls loved the Letterbox search which is why we traveled all over the camp looking for the treasured boxes that contained stamps and sometimes clues. We worked on the GS Law and asked the girls to talk about how they apply to them. We also had to discuss Stranger Danger when the girls learned about a GS named Laura who was abducted and murdered. The girls were wonderful in paying respect in the beautiful garden created for Laura.

We also found the Teepee's and the first place we want to camp when they are old enough. We think we can get the whole troop in there. Overall the day at Camp was wonderful. The girls had a blast hiking, swap making, and just playing.

It is amazing these how much in the few months of Daisies that all of these girls have grown. They have all opened up and are willing to help out. I personally also enjoyed my time with the Moms and thank Meghan, Julie, Stacia, and Teresa for making it fun.

I think next year will be even better when we attend. We are working on moving from Almost Prepared to being a full fledged Being Prepared as a Troop. It was a great pleasure to get to spend an incredible though slightly humid day with these remarkable 8 girls. Each one brings a unique and wonderful part to our troop.

We also missed the girls that couldn't attend (we have Megan's and Taylor's scarves). We know they will try to make it next year.

I also took a TON of pictures and posted them here. Also feel free to send me yours and I would be happy to post them on too. Have a great week off and see you all on Monday, Nov. 28 to have the girls pinned!!

Not-So-scOUTDOOR Event

Well our first official Daisy gathering with the girls was a washout!!! Even though it poured, I think we all had some fun- more so when we got home and out of our wet clothes. I did get some pictures of the girls. I plan on taking individual pictures of all the girls at our first meeting too.  Enjoy the photos!
